The Lyrebird Gift

The Lyrebird Gift

The Lyrebird Gift is a one-off gift of $20,000 to a musician or band – or so we initially planned. It has been very difficult to make the final decision.

It is with immense pleasure that we announce that Thando Sikwila is the recipient of ‘The Lyrebird Gift’.

The Lyrebird Committee have decided to make an additional ‘gift’ of $10,000 to Caiti Baker for her musical excellence.

Check out both women and their music. Support them and enjoy their music. Lyrebird would like to thank everyone that applied for The Gift.

Bianca Gannon; Brooke Taylor;  Caiti Baker; Charm Of Finches;  Charlie Thorpe; Eva Kourtes; Fenn Wilson; Freya Hollick; FOOLS;  Impernanence; Josh Hooke; Letter String Quartet; Liz Stringer; Lost Ragas; Melbourne African Traditional Ensemble; Olympia; Philly; Rubiks; Thando Sikwila; Tilley.

Check out these great performers!

There was an abundance of brilliant applications. We have chosen these 20 as our final list to choose from (listed alphabetically).

Winner to be announced 25th October; 8am.

In keeping with our core beliefs, philosophy and approach to all we have done in the past 20 years, the application process to be the recipient of The Lyrebird Gift will be quite straightforward.

Email us at: and tell us why, as a musician, you should receive the gift.

That’s it!

Your entry may be some words, it may be a CV, it may be a link to your live music. Tell us who you are, what you do or plan to do musically and if possible, a sample of your music. Don’t forget to send your contact details.

We have made a conscious decision to make the gift as large an amount as we can so that it will make a difference to the recipient. We have only one gift to give.

Entries open 31/03/2019 and close 30/09/2019

The winner will be announced on our 20th anniversary, which is October 25th 2019.
